One of the best leisurely walks you can enjoy starts outside our door. The Moat House Loop is a 3-kilometre-long walk through peaceful countryside, offering a relaxing way to explore the immediate area.

As you leave Moat House, the path winds gently through open fields and tree-lined paths, providing a tranquil route.

Cannock Chase Forest
For those arriving by car, just a short drive from Moat House, you’ll find Cannock Chase Forest, a location with a good selection of leisurely walks. One of our favourite routes in the area is the Ladyhill Trail, a 4-kilometre-long walk through stunning thick forest and heathland.

If your idea of a romantic, leisurely walk involves history, we have a local treat for you. The Shugborough Estate, located just a 15-minute drive from Moat House, is a beautiful site worth your time.
This National Trust property offers several walking routes, but the riverside walk is exceptional and extends 5 kilometres along the River Sow.

The Staffordshire & Worcestershire Canal path offers a peaceful escape 10 minutes from Moat House. If you plan to explore further afield than Moat House, the Dimmingside Valley, located 25 minutes from our hotel, is a must-visit for a leisurely walk.
A hidden gem of the Staffordshire countryside, the Furnace Forest Walk is a relaxed 4-kilometre route through lush woodland adorned with tranquil waters.

The backdrop of calming running water and birdsong makes this path a reset for the soul. Some lovely picnic spots are also dotted along the way, ideal for a family lunch break.
